Steve Stricker in his open letter at player’s tribunal said his confidence was ruined by golfer Tiger Woods.
It is not like Tiger Woods had done international harm to Stricker’s confidence, but it is his game that dominated Stricker’s confidence on golf.
Narrating his experience in letter Stricker writes “In the 1997 tour, I entered the tour with full confidence. My confidence was high because of winning last matches and being in good form. I was paired with Tiger Woods in one of the event. While playing the game, I saw an incredible performance of Woods. ”He further added, “While the playing with him I get stunned with the view that Wood’s ball land 50-60 yards beyond my ball.”
“After completion of the first round, when we were returning from course, that’s going through in my mind, I shared it with my wife and caddy. I said I can’t really compete with him. I can’t just compete the type of game Woods is playing.”
That was the first hit on my confidence, “I was thinking in after seeing this type of game, that all my effort in golf is meaningless.”
Stricker loses confidence, downhill his performance to big extent, but he came back to game after winning some tournaments in a year and got an award of Comeback player in 2006.
